There are several easy ways to add photos to your Walgreens Photo Center account. Which way is best for you? It depends on how many photos you have -- and where and how they're currently stored.
- If you have digital photos on your PC or Mac:
Use Walgreens Photo Center's QuickUpload tool to add multiple photos to your account at one time. Read more about QuickUpload below.
NOTE: If you prefer not to install the QuickUpload tool, you can use our one-by-one upload to upload photos one at a time to your account. Read more about one-by-one upload below. (If you use the Netscape browser, read Using One-by-One Upload with Netscape.)
- If you have photos in your mobile phone or email account:
Email Walgreens Photo Center your photos from your email account or your phone, and we'll upload them to your account. More info

| Using QuickUpload on a PC |
|
If you've got digital photos on your computer, the easiest way to add them to your Walgreens Photo Center account is to use our QuickUpload tool.
QuickUpload is fast and easy: Downloading it from the Walgreens Photo Center web site takes only a few moments, and you only have to do it once. After that, QuickUpload will automatically guide you through the upload process every time you add photos to your account.
NOTE: If you use a Mac, see Using QuickUpload on a Mac below. If you use Netscape or another non-IE browser, see Using One-by-One Upload with Netscape below.
To use QuickUpload, follow these steps:
- From your photo library page, select Upload photos.
- On the next page, select the album to which you would like to upload your photos, or name a new album. Then select UPLOAD TO THIS ALBUM.
- You'll see a dialogue box asking whether you would like to download ActiveX Control, another name for our QuickUpload tool. Choose yes. Wait a few moments for the Walgreens Photo Center to install QuickUpload on your computer. We'll let you know when it's finished.
- Select the SELECT PHOTOS button.
- Choose the photos you would like to upload by selecting the small box next to each one.
- Use the UPLOAD PHOTOS button to start transferring your digital photos from your computer to your online account.
- You'll see an indicator that the upload is in progress. Please don't close the upload window or go to any other part of the web site until your upload has finished. We'll let you know when it's done.
- Once all of your photos are successfully uploaded, you will be taken to the album view page where you can view, share, and order your photos.
NOTE: When you upload any digital photo to your online account, only a copy of it is placed in your account. The original digital photo file remains unchanged on your computer. You can upload photos from your computer's hard drive, from a floppy disk, from a CD-ROM, or directly from a digital camera connected to your computer. |

How long does uploading take?
The speed of your upload depends on the speed of your Internet connection. If you have a 56k modem, it will take approximately 2 minutes to upload a 500k digital photo file. The faster your Internet connection, the less time it will take to upload your photos. When you use QuickUpload, we'll indicate how long the upload will take for both a 56k modem and a DSL/Cable modem connection.
Is there any charge for uploading?
No. Uploading and sharing your digital photos is completely free!
What type of photo file can I upload to my Walgreens Photo Center account?
When you use our QuickUpload tool on a PC, you can copy the following types of digital photos from your computer to your online Walgreens Photo Center account:
- JPEG (.jpg, .jpeg, .jpe)
- Zip file (containing JPEGS only)
When you use our QuickUpload tool on a Mac, you can copy the following types of digital photos from your computer to your online Walgreens Photo Center account:
If you use one-by-one upload, you can copy the following types of digital photos from your computer to your online Walgreens Photo Center account:
- JPEG (.jpg, .jpeg, .jpe)
- Zip file (containing JPEGS only)
Any digital photo you upload must have an ending that matches one of the above file types (e.g., niagarafalls.jpg). Whichever type of file you use, the copy that you upload will be converted to JPEG format before it's added to your account.
NOTE: Whenever you upload a digital photo to your online account, only a copy of it is placed in your account. The original digital photo file remains unchanged on your computer.
Why can't I see the file extensions on my photo files?
Your PC may be set to hide file extension at the end of file names. If the names of your files don't end with a dot and a three- or four-letter extension (.jpg, .zip, etc.) this setting is easy to change:
- Return to your computer's desktop and double select the My Computer icon.
- When the window is open, select the View menu and choose Folder Options.
- Click on the View tab at the top of the window.
- Uncheck the box labeled Hide file extensions for known file types and select the OK button to confirm your change.
- You should now see the file extensions at the end of all file names.
For how long are my photos stored on Walgreens Photo Center?
The Walgreens Photo Center offers free, unlimited storage of your online photos. There is no limit to the number of digital photos you can upload. You can have an unlimited number of albums and photos in your account.
We store the hi-res versions of your photos in your account for 3 months (90 days) after the day you upload them to your account. This means that you can order prints, enlargements, greeting cards and other personalized photo products within the first 90 days.
After that, only the low-res photos, suitable for viewing and sharing with friends, as well as for purchasing selected print sizes (4x6", 5x7", wallets) will remain in your online account. More about our storage policy
